Campus debate over God attracts diverse crowd

As severe weather rumbled outside, the inside the College Center was focused on answering one question: is God real?

The head-to-head debate took place on May 2 between the intellectual Atheists, and the philosophical Christians.

Arguing the case for God was Joshua Centanni and Jordan Ladikos, representatives for the Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC).

New Senate president to promote change

Laura Nash, the 23-year-old newly appointed president of Student Senate, can't stress strongly enough her passion for change and her plans for the 2008-2009 school year.

With this being her fifth year at LCCC, and her working on three associate's degree, Nash knows the college experience, and she said, "The experience here on campus is slim to nothing.

Nursing students put learning to work in Dominican Republic

LCCC Allied Health and Nursing students have once again taken their skills abroad to the Dominican Republic to bring much needed help to one of the poorest nations in the Caribbean as they have every year since fall 2000.

The most recent of these trips ended in March.

A new fitness center is now underway at Lorain County Community College

Numerous user groups such as students and seniors from the community helped provide input, and Lori Carlberg, Dean of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Division of the college helped the architects plan the new fitness center.

Rep. Brown is graduation speaker

The 2008 LCCC commencement ceremony will take place Saturday, May 17, at 9:30 a.m.

The ceremony will include Sen. Sherrod Brown, Ohio's 13th district senator (D); an outspoken representative for the state's working man, as its main speaker.

The ceremony usually lasts between two and half to three hours and will be held in the college courtyard.

"Soul of A Butterfly," an autobiographical book wrote by Muhammad Ali and his daughter Hana Yasmeen Ali, how Ali lived, and gives his insight into the teachings of Sufism, a Muslim religion.

In the book, Muhammad takes us on the journey of his life. He tells stories of fighting Joe Lewis and George Foreman.

When this poll started, the idea was simple: Find out, as scientifically as possible, which professors are the most favored by students, and which are barely tolerated. I am going to miss this smell. It is a mix between stale popcorn and burnt pizza, but I love it, and I will truly miss the smell at Lorain County Community College.

This Thursday (my last day), I'm going to stand in the middle of the CC mall and take a deep sniff, wait for a moment, and then try to hold it in until next fall.

Candidates who ran for positions on Student Senate eagerly awaited the results of the contest April 25.

The most important seat that was up for grabs was student president. As the candidates waited in anticipation, a winner was finally announced. Laura Nash won the presidential race at LCCC and was very excited about her victory.
