The University Partnership program at Lorain County Community College (LCCC) gives the citizens of Lorain County the opportunity to obtain a bachelors or masters degree on the LCCC Campus. Degrees are earned through several different accredited universities.

Various Ohio universities offer many different degrees.  Ashland University has both bachelors and masters degrees offered in several different areas of education.  Cleveland State University offers Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and Masters of Education in School Counseling.  Bachelors and Masters Degrees of Business Administration are offered by Kent State University.  The University of Akron offers several Bachelors of Science degrees, including Nursing, Accounting, and a new program that was just introduced this spring: Sport Science.  The Master of Science in Nursing is also available through the University of Akron.

Some other Universities involved in the program include Bowling Green State University, Case Weatherhead School of Management, Ohio University and Youngstown State University.  These universities have a variety of additional degrees available to students and more degrees will be added.

Students have many different reasons for choosing to enroll in classes on the LCCC campus through the Partnership Program over attending the main campuses.

Michelle Bruce, an early Childhood Education Major from Ashland University, said, "I wanted to stay local and it was affordable," when asked why she chose the Partnership Program

"You get to work with local teachers.  You get to know people," said Sara Coles, Principal Licensure Program at Ashland University.

Students who attend University Partnership classes are instructed by professors who are employed by their base universities.

Dr. James Powell, Adjunct Professor at Ashland University, said,

"The different colleges hire people from the actual fields to teach in their programs."  This benefits students by providing professors who have examples of real life experiences.

The University Partnership Program is located in the University Center Building.  The office for the general program is in room 104.  Individual Universities have offices throughout the building.  If students have any questions about the program, they can stop by any weekday or call   1-800-995-5222 ext. 4949.
