LCCC to host Journalism Boot Camp

Lorain County Community College will host the third annual Journalism Boot Camp, a two-day seminar on news writing and journalism fundamentals.

Boot Camp will be Friday, July 14 from from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.  followed by a reception and newspaper-themed classic movie; and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration is $15.

Boot Camp is open to area high school and college students. Sessions include news values, writing techniques, press law and ethics, the First Amendment and page design using Quark and Photoshop.  Training and story coaching will come from area industry professionals.

Boot Camp "recruits" will also have orientation sessions with staff of the Collegian, the student newspaper of Lorain County Community College, and LCCC's Duck Radio.
