The Anime Society at LCCC will be hosting a special presentation of the animated movie "Howl's Moving Castle", in order to raise money and entertain viewers at Lorain County Community College on Nov. 18.
Rey Torres, advisor of The Anime Society, says that "Howl's Moving Castle represents the cutting edge of anime production, and that any fan of Japanese animation would be wise to attend the viewing."
"The original producer, Hayao Miyazaki, has produced a number of films in Japan," Torres says. "His previous movie, "Spirited Away", won an Oscar. This movie, "Howl's Moving Castle", is his biggest money making movie yet."
The film will be aired at LCCC's main auditorium and tickets will be sold at $3 per person. The LCCC cafeteria will cater to the event and will be selling popcorn, pop, candy and more. All profits will be donated to The Boy Scouts of America.
The film is scheduled to be aired at 7:30 p.m. and will run for 119 minutes. It is 35mm print and is rated PG.
The Anime Society is currently working with other clubs on campus to raise money for Student Life.
"One of the things that I believe in is that all the clubs in Student Life should work together," Torres said. "If we all support each other, no matter who runs the events, then all of Student Life will be uplifted."
The Anime Society purchased the rights for "Howl's Moving Castle" from Swank Motion Pictures Inc.
