Student Senate President, Daniel Barnicle has reportedly submitted his resignation to Student Senate. According to a member of the Senate, it is unclear as to whether the resignation has been accepted.
Marcus Madison, Student Senate Vice President, said that an official statement should be available by Nov. 13.
The Student Senate had sent a notice to Barnicle with an intent to impeach. The Senate issued a statement that the reasons for the action had to do with harassment and work place relations. However, the petition was withdrawn on Nov 1, following what the president described as an agreement to work things out.
Madison may step into Barnicle's position if some agreement cannot be reached to retain the current president. Over the summer break, members of the student senate tendered their resignations because of tensions. LCCC administration stepped in until an agreement was reached through mediation, according to a memo issued by Student Senate at the beginning of the Fall 06 semester. This just may happen this time, but this is unconfirmed.
This is just a brief update to keep students posted as what is going on in their student executive body. More information will be posted as it comes available.
