New class explores Black history, music and literature

Students will have the opportunity to explore facets of African-American culture during the Spring 2007 semester at Lorain County Community College. A new course taught by Malcolm Cash called "Black Expressions" will be offered on Tuesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.
According to Cash, the class will delve into the history and expressions generated by the Civil Rights movement and explore the insights of leaders, actors, singers, and writers. Also, the class will offer the opportunity to experience facets of African American culture such as music and literature.
Cash said he plans to talk about leaders such as Nat Turner, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King, Jr.
The class will explore some of the roots and cultural impact of jazz and other types of music.
