There is a new Ropes Course coming to Lorain County Community College.
Lisa Augustine will teach the course. She can be found in the PE 104 office or you can contact her by email at laugusti@lorainccc.edu. The course will be worth one credit hour.
"The ropes course is one of my favorite courses to teach because I learn something new everyday," said Augustine. "We challenge the students mentally, but they do have the choice of doing only something there capable of doing."
Students can take this class during the pre-term period if they choose. If a student chooses this option, they will have to go to class for four straight days to receive the credit hour. If not, students can take the full eight week course. No prerequisites are required to take this course.
The ropes class meets on Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the spring semester. They meet Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the summer and on Friday from noon through 3:30 p.m. during the fall semester
This course is held outdoors near the Ewing Field House. It takes place outdoors regardless of the weather or season. Lightning would be the only cause to move the class indoors. This course is designed to engage students in problem solving and to help them develop decision-making skills.
There will be many different activities throughout the course. Some of these events include: tying knots, walking on balancing beams, climbing walls and ropes, even paper folding is involved.
The new ropes course offers a new athletic challenge for LCCC students, in addition to the wide selection already available.
