A new club at Lorain County Community College, Common Voices, meets Monday evenings to put together an online literary magazine.

David Russo, spokesperson for the club, said the magazine would be primarily for LCCC students. "Students can submit poetry, short stories and essays," explained Russo. "E-mail is the best way."

The address for submitting work is <>and the deadline is April 11. Students can submit up to three poems at a time. Short stories need to be three pages or less.

Russo said Common Voices will publish every semester and eventually twice each semester.

Common Voices, which meets in SC213 at 6 p.m. on Monday evenings, was created by Arts and Humanities instructor Kim Greenfield. Russo said he became the leader of Common Voices so Greenfield could concentrate on her work with another online literary magazine, the North Coast Review.

Students, along with faculty and alumni, can submit poetry and short stories to the North Coast Review, which was first published last semester. "We're even experimenting with artwork this semester," said Greenfield.

Submissions to the North Coast Review are accepted on a rolling basis. "There really isn't a deadline," said Greenfield. When asked when the next issue of the North Coast Review would be published, Greenfield said "We're shooting for the end of the last week of March."

According to Greenfield, the North Coast Review has received enough submissions to consider publishing an issue during the summer term.

Students and faculty who want to know more about the North Coast Review or want to submit their work can go to the North Coast Review website at www.lorainccc.edu/ncr.

I've really wanted this to happen, so I think that this is a very good idea.
