Accounting student Angelo Tombado defeated sports management student Darrel Smalls to become the first champion in Lorain County Community College's newest intramural event, the Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament.

Jim Powers, recreation and noncredit coordinator, recruited eight students who had gathered in the cafeteria to vie for the newly created title of Rock, Paper Scissors champion.

Tombado won the grand prize of a dollar and a T-shirt.

Tombado said of his victory, "Just because I rock, doesn't mean I'm stone."

Powers said the tournament was added to bring somtething new to the usual intramural options.

When asked if this would be a regular event, Powers said, "We'll keep trying."
