People getting together is excellent."

The Spring Fling committee presented Arbor Fest after hours of planning by a team of students, staff, and faculty. The team in green decorated tables, prepared food, and made final arrangements as Arbor Fest began. Jim Bodner and his classmate stringed leafy decoration across the college center.

Outside, Brandon lit a match and set the huge charcoal grill aflame. Bright orange flames spread across the grill just as a huge mass of clouds rolled across the sky, and thunder punctuated the morning with the threat of rain. Acting fast, the grill was rolled under the shelter of a skywalk.

The scent of crispy grilled foot-long hotdogs wafted up, as the crowd began to gather. Within a few hours, several people were munching on a tube steak lunch as Max the Knife performed.

Ralph Smith, the instructor for Contemporary World Problems, the class who initiated the idea for Arbor Fest, said, " We've been planning this since the first of the semester. It started with the class and then a group of students from Student Life became involved. The two groups merged into a single unit."

Smith said that Roger Campbell and the Student Life staff, Shawna Johnston and Karen McLean had been very helpful to the students during the project. Also he said that the college and Early College administration have been very supportive of students.
