The Lorain County Community College Educational Outreach Center is now open in Wellington.

This new edition to LCCC is ready to provide greater opportunities and access to higher education for Lorain County residents, stated by the LCCC Wellington Web site.

This 10,000-square-foot building includes two flexible classrooms, as well as a computer lab equipped with 25 separate stations. The very spacious lobby has several computers that can be used by students passing in and out of the center.

Four interactive video distance-learning classrooms are also available tol connect LCCC and the University Partnership.

An array of distance learning classes as well as on-site courses can be taken at the Wellington Center. On-site classes range from business classes such as Accounting, to fitness classes such as Pilates.

The Wellington Center will also offer Career Boot Camp to help people learn about careers or educational plans.

This is a free workshop that will give students a set of tools to help them make decisions in the future. Some of these tools include decision-making capabilities and individual counseling opportunities.

A Career Boot Camp will be held on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 12:30 p.m. at the Wellington Center.

These usually one-time workshops can help students develop a sense of what classes they should take, as well as choosing a possible career according to the Web site. This program helps students learn more about their temperament, interests, values and abilities and helps them move toward a goal.

The Wellington Center offers LCCC credit courses, non-credit and free writing and math courses. These free writing and math courses help college bound students who are still having trouble with these subjects after high school. To learn more about these free courses, attend the orientation taking place at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 17 at the LCCC Wellington Center.

"At the Wellington Regional Center, student headcount stands at 244. Headcount is nearly equally divided between day and evening students and new and returning students. Of the students enrolled at the Wellington Center, 44 percent reside in Wellington." saidWendy Marley research analyst for institutional effectiveness and planning in an email.

The LCCC Wellington Center is located on S.R. 58 just north of S.R. 18.
