Politician Fatigue lurks ahead

Everyone has heard of compassion fatigue. It is where one gets overwhelmed and distressed from having to always care about emotional issues. The same goes for politics.
The next presidential election is not until November 2008. Even though that is over a year away, we are already hearing about the candidates. No, hearing is the wrong word. It is more like being forced to listen.
There have already been debates and the candidates' stories on YouTube. American citizens are being swamped with information and campaigns. By the time the election rolls around next November, people are going to be tired of listening.
It is too bad for the candidates who are popular right now. I was pretty excited to hear about Hilary Clinton running. There was so much hype about the possibility of a female president. Barack Obama caught my eye because he could possibly be the first African-American president. However, after hearing about these candidates for so long, I eventually started to lose interest.
So it makes me wonder, why did the candidates start their campaigns so soon? They had to of known that voters would get bored. Plus, this does wonders for the candidates who have yet to come into the picture. Once people decide they do not want to hear about Clinton or Obama anymore, new candidates will arise and take over the limelight.
I suppose the candidates know best. They must have a method to their ways, and starting their campaigns early is part of that. With another year to go, only time will tell if using those methods was the best choice.
