The radio station, which came about from students playing music during lunch hours, has grown up and now includes schedueled music programs, talk shows, sports shows, and other student run productions.
The Duck started out as a cable televison show airing early in the morning on the campus's cable channel. As their fanbase grew, officials took notice and granted the station its own streaming radio channel on line.
With the guidance of Cleveland radio's 107.3 "The Wave" program director, Bernie Kimpal, the Duck's dedicated staff aim to bring professional quality programs to the ears of LCCC students.
"If any one can get "The Duck" up and running to as good a level we can get without having an FM frequency, it would be [Kimpal], says Promotions Director Alan Sharp.
The Duck has been a highly visible club on campus since its inception. Sharp says the creativity of being on air and "being able to express your personality" makes the job so enjoyable
Sharp and Program Director Jeff Traxell head up the staff and are always looking for new students to help out with the program.
The station has interest forms in Student Life that students can fill out to be a part of the station. Sharp says, "Even though it's a lab now, it still is a Student Life club", that is open to students who wish to participate.
The Duck will be hosting the on-campus Trick-or-Treat festivities around Halloween as well as a live broadcast from Ghostly Manor.
