More than 80 people attended the ninth annual 5k Walk-Along for Lupus at the Lorain County Community College campus on Saturday Oct. 13.

Registration began an hour before the walk and people slowly wandered into the College Center Mall. According to Tri-City Lupus Project Director Nellie Caver, "We had about 60 walkers and an additional 20 [volunteers]." Caver said that these included people to set up the event, run the event, as well as people who donated without walking.

When asked about the attendance in comparison to previous years she replied, "Attendance was down." Caver explained that other events were going on the same day including a funeral at a church. That church is usually a big supporter of this event.

Many of the people who usually attend and could not this year may be sending in their donations according to Caver. The walk took approximately an hour and a half to finish.
