The Lorain County Community College Student Senate held their bi-weekly meeting on Oct. 31 to discuss issues concerning student life and changes among the Senate.
The discussion that spurred conversation was the issue of whether or not the senate should keep the Student Electorate position, which is a volunteering audience member who takes the vote of students present at meeting on a concerning issue. The majority voted against the issue.
The majority of discussion for the meeting was the procedures for forming and operating clubs around LCCC.
"Club representation is very lax," said Jessica Fetter, student in attendance. "I don't even know who my representative is."
In response, club representatives attending identified themselves and recounted their clubs' events and contributions during recent events.
Other topics included the open bi-weekly meeting be moved from 3 p.m. every other Wed. to 1 p.m., however no vote was made due to many time restrictions for students. and Student Senate members. There was some discussion as to what to do with $550 of left over candy from the Trick-or-Treat event earlier in the week. Sam's Club offered to take back the candy for refund, however they would throw it out. It was proposed that it be distributed to clubs to sell.
Upcoming events such as the Presidents Forum, the SIFE Banquet, and the International Dinner where all covered to some extent at the meeting.
