Did you know, Lorain County Community College has a mascot? The students voted Commodore Duck mascot in a contest held on campus back in the 1960s.
Nearly 45 years later, some people at the college believe the mascot could be out of date. If you look around campus today, you would be lucky to come across one picture of the LCCC mascot.
Laurie Carlberg, dean of the Health, Physical Education and Recreation/Student Life Division, is leading the "beginning stages of a survey regarding the mascot that will be held during the spring semester," she said.
The survey will ask students if they know what the mascot is. Then students will be asked if LCCC should "save the duck, re-do the duck, or roast the duck," said Carlberg.
The survey will be given to instructors of College 101 (SDEV 101) so they can distribute them to their students to let students decide what to do with the duck mascot.
Updates on the mascot project will be in upcoming issues of the Collegian.
