They take "cosmic" bowling to a whole new level.
With petty cash in hand, these LCCC students find the nearest Goodwill, and after buying the most ridiculous outfit, they roll a heavy ball down a wooden alley to knock over 10 pins.
It's called "thrift bowling", an interesting trend started by LCCC's Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC).
Wait. There is more. These fun-loving Christians offer more than just "thrift bowling" and spiritual comfort.
"We are hosting a Swing Dance fundraiser in the CC mall on Mar. 22 from 7-11 p.m." said Emily Oesterman, one of the four leaders for CCC. "It cost $5 to get in, and students can donate can or box goods."
The donations and money raised will be donated locally to a food bank, and globally to Blood Water Mission, an organization dedicated to clean water in Africa said Oesterman.
Oesterman revealed CCC is currently looking at three bands to play for the Swing Dance: Blue Lunch, Civic Jazz Band, and Hepcat Revival.
The other three leaders for CCC, Steve Wacker, Rachel Hysell, and Elyse Crowl are on the Swing Dance committee, which is responsible for putting it together, said Oesterman.
CCC made its way to LCCC in the late 1990s/ early 2000 said Wacker, who made known of the clubs new advisor, Heather Bubnick.
The club meets on Tuesdays from 2-3 p.m. in the PS building room 112, and Wednesdays from 1-2 p.m. in the BU building room 109, said Oesterman. CCC also meets every Friday night at one of the member's house.
"On Friday nights, the first two weeks of the month is split, boys and girls, and then the last two weeks of the month are group meetings," said Wacker.
Students who are interested in CCC can show up at the meetings, contact them at lc3crusade@gmail.com, or on http:/www.facebook.com group title LCCC Campus Crusade for Christ.
According to CCC's constitution, membership is open to anyone who has an active interest in Christ.
"Everyone is welcome," said Oesterman. "Just know the fundamentals of Christianity: the bible, commandments, Jesus, stuff like that."
"No matter who you are though, CCC won't push you away" said Wacker.
CCC's constitution states it is interdenominational allowing any form of Christianity for members.
"Even students who don't know anything about Christianity are more than welcome to stop by," said Oesterman. "We have bible study, prayer, and a lot of fun."
