Physical therapists have a program for students who want to help out

The medical field has many opportunities for aspiring physical therapists to help those in need of medical attention get healthy.
One important aspect of the tiring process of staying in the hospital after surgery is rehabilitation. At Lorain County Community College, the Physical Therapy Assistants (PTA) program gives students the chance to make helping those in need of rehabilitation a part of their lives.
Physical Therapy Assistants not only help the physical therapist, they perform many tasks and do many jobs that aid in the recovery of a patient. Wedina and Andy Gismondi, rehabilitated at Rehab Consultants in Lorain, noticed that the assistants "were very involved. They helped just as much as the therapist did."
After the physical therapist sets the program and exercises for the patient, the PTA guides and watches the patients while they do their recovery program. An assistant is usually with the patient to help them throughout their recovery.
The program is a two-year program that is available after certain requirements and processes have been followed that make the applicant qualified to enter the program. A written essay is required to be accepted into the PTA program, which is read and reviewed by the professors who make the decisions on accepting applicants.
Historically the PTA program has been very difficult to get into. It is a selective program that takes only the applicants who appear to be the best suited to work in the field.
There are few spots in the classes, and a very large number of applicants.
To find more information on applying and entering into the program, stop by the Connections or Counseling Centers or check out the Lorain County Community College Web site at http:/www.lorainccc.edu.
