Mascot Commodore Duck is waiting for the right outfit to slip into after his fate was sealed with a complete wardrobe update.
Student submissions for the design will start being accepted online on March 10, the first day the new Web Site is active.
Students may submit designs no larger than an 8.5 x 11" sheet of paper. In addition to the design, students will have to include a 300-word essay answering the following questions:
1.What changes have been made to the Commodore Duck?
2. Why do these changes reflect a 21st century LCCC Mascot?
3. How does this updated Mascot reflect the mission of LCCC?
4. Why should this design be chosen over any other entries?
The deadline for entry will be April 4 and the winner will be announced the week of April 21.
According to Laurie Carlberg, Dean of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Student Life, "What came out of it is everyone wanted to keep the duck, but update it."
The result of the survey was 159 votes to keep the duck, 243 votes to update the duck, and 200 votes to completely change the duck.
Besides having their design selected, the winner will also receive an i-Pod.
