The Role Players' Association and the Anime Society of Lorain County Community College are organizing Shinbokucon, an event for fans of role-playing games and anime on April 20 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Spitzer Conference Center. Admission is free.
In addition to the three role-playing sessions and card games such as Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, and Magic the Gathering, there will also be video games, a dancing exhibit, costume play and game shows set to the theme of the day.
LCCC's radio station The Duck will host the video game "Rock Band for everyone's inner rock star."
The dance company, Twilight Dancers, will perform to J-Pop, or Japanese pop music. The dance company is "going to surprise" according to Rey Torres Jr., organizer of the event.
The costume play will also be something you don't want to miss. The contestants will dress up in different costumes and act out skits while the judges determine who deserves the prizes.
Other contests being considered are "Whose line is it, Anime?" a spin on the popular improv game show; and "Who wants to be a millionaire? Anime-style." Prizes for the contests will most likely be gift certificates, although that is still tentative.
Children under 12 are also encouraged to attend, with specific events planned for them. The live events will be hosted in the Grand Room in the Spitzer Center. Food will be available for purchase.
