"Grindhouse," the name originates from theaters that played all the classic exploitation films during the 1970s. Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's modern-day tribute to the 'double-feature' horror flicks of the era vividly re-creates the genre in a way that both mocks and celebrates it.

It is complete with [bogus] previews thrown in between each movie that will make you laugh and cringe almost as much as the features themselves.

The first feature is the Robert Rodriguez-directed, "Planet Terror," in which a lethal virus of some sort unexplainably infects thousands and turns them into vulgar, zombie-like monstrosities that wreak havoc on a quiet Texas town.

In the second film, "Death Proof," directed by Tarantino, the mild-mannered 'Stuntman Mike' (Kurt Russell) and his black 1970 Chevy Nova start out by following three unsuspecting girls out partying in Austin Texas.

The night takes a much less party-like atmosphere when it becomes clear that Stuntman Mike's supped up vehicle isn't quite as "Death Proof" as he would have the girls (one in particular) believe.

But, just as it seems the bad guy has won and the story is over, it becomes evident that that may not be the case as the second half of this tale heads to Tennessee and reveals an intriguing, unexpected conclusion.

Due to graphic content, "Grindhouse" nearly didn't get it's R-rating at first. But with only about 20 seconds of cuts in the final product, it's hard to complain, especially with the thoughtful notices by the management, apologizing for missing portions of film.

Anyone who is a fan of previous Tarantino films such as "Pulp Fiction," "Reservoir Dogs," and " Sin City " or Rodriguez films such as "From Dusk til' Dawn" and "Once Upon a Time in Mexico " will love "Grindhouse."

If you like safe, family friendly films with happy endings that leave you with a warm, fuzzy feeling and you think you want to see "Grindhouse," DON'T.

If you're thinking about watching "Grindhouse" with your children, DON'T.

If you can't stand adrenaline-filled movies that contain large amounts of blood, guts, lost limbs, man-eating zombies, psychopaths, car crashes, scantily-clad women, obscenities, peg-legged strippers, strange mutations, "death-proof" cars, and scenes of utter carnage and you're about to watch "Grindhouse," DON'T.

You should probably stick to something a little less gory like "Passion of the Christ" instead.
